What Types of Permits are Available?
Student Vehicle Registration
Students are required to register their vehicle in the Georgia State parking system in order to park on any campus. An annual hang tag permit is no longer required for students parking on any campus. The vehicle license plate helps identify owners of vehicles in the event of an emergency and serves as a parking decal at Center Parc Stadium for enforcement.

Students residing in Piedmont Central, Piedmont North or University Commons should register their vehicle through University Housing. Parking is available at the respective residential sites.
Semester Parking Permits
Students may purchase a G Deck, J Deck or M Deck parking permit by visiting the Parking Portal and logging in with their campus ID and password. Once logged in, the available permits and semester cost will be shown. Once purchased, the permits should be picked up by the student at the Campus Services customer service counter.

G Deck, J Deck and M Deck Semester Parking Permits
For students who commute to campus regularly G Deck, J Deck and M Deck semester parking permits are available on a limited basis. Fall or spring semester permits are priced at $215, and summer semester permits are $110. These permits allow the student to come and go with an unlimited number of parks. Overnight parking is NOT allowed in these decks and is enforced 24/7.
- Log in to the Parking Portal with your campus ID and password.
- Once logged in, click your name in the upper right corner to Manage Your Account Information and verify your address (different from PAWS) and other information as needed.
- Register or update your vehicle(s).
- Click Get Permits to request an available semester permit (one permit per student).
- Purchasing students will be notified where and when the semester permits will be available for pick up. Permits are no longer being mailed to home addresses.
- Return any expired semester permits to Campus Services to avoid paying a $25 non-return fee.

Lofts Resident Semester Parking Permits
- Log in to the Parking Portal with your campus ID and password.
- Once logged in, click your name in the upper right corner to Manage Your Account Information and verify your address and other information as needed.
- Register or update your vehicle(s).
- Click Get Permits to request a semester permit (one permit per student).
- Resident permits purchased will be available for pick up at the Campus Services customer service counter after purchase. Your PantherCard may be required at the time of pickup.

Motorcycle Permits
With this permit, motorcycles are allowed to park at the bottom level of G Deck accessed only from Collins Street. It costs $18 per semester to obtain the Motorcycle Permit from the Parking Portal.

How Do I Get a Permit?
Register Your Vehicle
Students can register their vehicle at Parking Portal for the current semester. While online, please verify your mailing address and e-mail address, and make any necessary changes in order to make sure your information is current. Motorcycles are also required to be registered and need to be parked in designated areas. Mopeds and bicycles are required to be parked in the appropriate designated areas; however, they do not require registration.
Students residing in the University Commons or Piedmont North should register their vehicle through the University Housing Office located in the 75 Piedmont Building.
Receive Your Permit
Parking Office is open for business 8:30 – 5:15pm, but we still highly encourage mailing permits and office appointment in order to keep contactless transactions. Please contact [email protected] or call 404-413-9510 to for questions or schedule an appointment.
Parking Fees
The rates to park at on-campus parking locations are:
- $10.00 for visitors or students without a parking permit or budget card
- $5.00 per entry with a valid Georgia State University student parking permit
- $4.00 per entry with a valid Georgia State University student Parking Budget Card/Panther Cash
- $3.00 per entry after 4 PM in all decks and lots with a valid Georgia State University student parking permit
- $18.00 per semester for Motorcycles/Mopeds at G deck
- $400.00 per semester in the Loft Deck for Lofts, Freshman Hall, and Greek Housing tenants (includes 24/7 overnight parking)
- $215.00 per semester in the M/J/S/K/N/G/T Deck with a valid parking permit (no overnight parking allowed)
- $215.00 per semester in the Loft Deck with a valid non-resident parking permit (no overnight parking allowed)
- $110 Student Lofts Summer Non-Tenant
- $200 Student Lofts Summer Tenant
- $110 Student M/J/S/K/N/G/T Deck Summer
- $75 Parking Fine
Student parking at Georgia State Stadium’s Blue lot is free (provided through the Student Transportation Fee) for registered vehicles with a valid parking permit. Please note, Budget cards do not serve as valid parking credentials at Georgia State Stadium. Parking restrictions may apply based on special events. All parking permits and budget cards (with the exception of one day visitor parking passes) are to be returned to Parking and Transportation when the permit period or payroll deduction period expires, or upon termination of enrollment or employment, to avoid a $25 fee.
*Budget Card rate will be discounted to $3.50 until December 31, 2022. $4.00 rate will begin January 1, 2023.
Where Can I Park?
- Students may park in designated student parking decks/lots on any Georgia State campus, including the Center Parc Stadium Green Lot, when space is available.
- Visit gsu.edu/transportation for information regarding free Panther Express shuttle service routes and the hours of operation.
